Developer Blog: Scarlet Hunt

Hello, Exiles!

One of the questions we hear most often is: “When is the next Scarlet Hunt season?” Well, our answer: the new season starts as soon as tomorrow! From now on, Scarlet Hunt seasons will follow one another with minimal gaps.

We made this decision because we've seen that, for many players, it is the Hunt that makes Grim Soul feel especially engaging and rewarding. It provides goals, motivation and valuable rewards. We want that sense of progress and excitement to be with you more often.

At the same time, we want to preserve the feeling of a major, long-awaited event that many of you have always loved about the Scarlet Hunt. That's why several times a year we'll continue to run large-scale seasonal Hunts tied to major occasions such as Halloween, Christmas, and the Grim Soul Anniversary. These special seasons will feature unique rewards and a distinctive festive atmosphere. While regular seasons will occasionally introduce new designs, storages and panniers, their main focus will remain steady progression, insignias, and the opportunity to choose the rewards you need from the Quartermaster.

We've been working toward this format for a long time.

When Scarlet Hunt was first introduced, it was a major standalone event. Seasons were held with long breaks in between (originally just once a year), tasks were more demanding and required daily activity, rewards were much harder to earn, and if you missed a season, obtaining its unique rewards later was simply impossible.

Over time, we gradually improved the system. We introduced a merchant who offers unique rewards from previous seasons, made daily tasks scale with player level, added task accumulation for missed days, moved the most difficult challenges into a separate event (Veteran's Tasks), and introduced Inspiration Point accumulation — all to ensure that every player can progress through the season at their own pace.

We will continue monitoring Scarlet Hunt closely, paying attention to which rewards players enjoy most and which aspects of the event can be improved further.

Sharpen your weapons, check your supplies, and don't forget to visit the Quartermaster.

See you in the Plaguelands!
